Who যুক্ত বাক্যকে Passive form করার সময় বাক্যের শুরুতে By whom + Auxiliary Verb + Subject + be + Verb এর Past Participle বসে।

‘Reporting verb’ হিসেবে ‘said’ এবং তারপরে Alas! থাকায় এগুলোর পরিবর্তে Indirect speech এ ‘exclaimed with sorrow’ বসাতে হবে ও conjunction হিসেবে ‘that’ ব্যবহার হবে। অতঃপর Subject (he) এবং tense ও person অনুযায়ী ‘to be’ verb (was) + বাকি অংশ।

He said, "What a pity!" বাক্যের Indirect speech হচ্ছে - - - He exclaimed that it was a great pity.

Interrogative WH sentence এর ক্ষেত্রে reporting verb এর subject + said/told + object + WH word (what) + reported speech এর subject + verb + বাকি অংশ। উল্লেখ্য, present tense - past tense এ রূপান্তরিত হবে অর্থাৎ (want পরিবর্তিত হয় wanted)।
